Sniffapalooza 2026
All you need to know about the 2026 event.
What to Bring?
We found this cute student packing list for the camp so are sharing it for the basics. 🙂
I would also add a camp chair and of course ALL the dog gear. haha
About the Venue
The Gavin Lake Forest Education Centre is a not-for-profit camp. Click here to visit the camp website and see all the fun things there is to do.
** There is NO cell signal or internet at this venue (except for an emergency) so come prepared to unplug!**
The venue is about an hour from the closest town so plan accordingly.
Directions to the Venue
From the South
Turn east (right) at 150 Mile House onto the Likely Road (150 Mile House is 14 km south-east of Williams Lake on Highway 97). After 4 km, turn left onto the Likely Road where it forks with the Horsefly Road and follow it for 44 km. The Gavin Lake Road is on the right and is marked by the Gavin Lake Forest Education Centre and UBC/Alex Fraser Research Forest signs.
From the North
Turn east off of Highway 97 at McLeese Lake (approximately 45 km north of Williams Lake) onto Beaver Lake Road, and continue for 3.3 km. Turn right onto the gravel portion of Beaver Lake Road. Follow this route until it meets the Likely Road (approximately 35 km). Turn north (left) and drive for 6.7 km on the Gavin Lake Road.
The gravel part of Beaver Lake Road was decent when we drove it a few weeks ago. Has some washboard areas but overall was good. If you do not want to drive the gravel then continue on the highwat towards Williams Lake and take a left on Mountain House Road (close to and across the road from the gas station past McLeese lake). It will also take you to the Likely Road and has a smaller section of gravel.
If you want NO gravel for your drive continue on the highway to Rocky Mountain House Road and turn left. It will take you to the Likely Road.
If you miss all of those continue to 150 Mile House and turn left on the Likely Road. Follow the rest of the directions for the people coming from the South.
Accommodations
Cabins
Beds are mostly singles and have a mattress covered with a fitted sheet. You are responsible to bring your own bedding.
Cabins have power and electric heat.
Dogs are allowed in all of the cabins, but please keep them in a crate or Xpen if you are not in the cabin. You will be responsible for any damages at the rate of $25 an hour for the venue to fix them.
RVs and Tents
Camping will be in the Forest Recreation Campsite and/or on the field. It is dry camping with no hookups but you will have access to the washroom, showers and kitchen.
Please bring covers for xpens etc to keep reactivity to a minimum if your dog is penned outside.
Please do not run generators after 9pm or before 7am.
Catering
Caterers will be camping on site with us and have priority use of the kitchen area.
We also have access to a full kitchen and mess hall (no dogs allowed in those) that all can use. We are responsible for bringing all food (including condiments) and complete clean up after.
